Reformation and Rehabilitation: legal steps taken for the death of a detainee

Director-General of Reformation and Rehabilitation has taken legal procedures for the death of a Bahraini detainee, 20, on Friday morning at the Detention Centre held over physical assault and damages charges. 

The centre started procedures to receive the decease on 14 January 2021 and was isolated per precautionary measures against coronavirus.  The detainee had previous criminal records and was kept at the Juvenile Care Centre on 3 April 2016. 

The Director-General said that the Public Prosecution,  the Ombudsman and the National Institute for Human Rights were notified for required procedures.
